It's...white. I know, white of all colors: The neutral that works with everything is the one color you should avoid if you're trying to bring all the birds to your yard.

Apparently, the color signals danger to them. Birds use the color white to communicate amongst themselves to stay away—some even use the white in their plumage as a warning—according to The Spruce.

If you're saddened by the news that your garden may be the very reason you don't wake up to a symphony of chirps, here are some colors you should try working into your yard: red, pink, orange, yellow, and blue. These colors will attract hummingbirds, orioles, goldfinches, warblers, bluebirds, and jays. Not the type of birds you want to attract? Well, colors like gray, brown, and green are some alternatives if you're looking to gain attention from ground feeders, such as doves, quail, and thrushes.

So, remove all your white flowers, and plant some new ones based on the type of bird you want to pay a visit to your garden. And the next time you decide to relax in your hammock, with a glass of lemonade by your side, you might have some company.
